Everyone knows the case of FBI vs Apple, which started with a weird request to Apple. But now the FBI dropped the case, since it doesn’t need Apple’s help any more. They cracked the system.

But have they ? …

Looking at the Federal Procurement Data System, we can see that the FBI went with Cellebrite forensic solution to crack the iPhone. Cellebrite helped the Brazilian government last september to crack phones related to the ‘Lava Jato” operation, so they’re quite known to this and have an interesting software portfolio.

Now the most interesting thing is that Cellebrite has been selling their software and skills to US Drug Enforcement Administration like there’s no tomorrow for ages now.

So obviously Apple capitalized this as a great stunt for their privacy systems and FBI could have this under the rug without people noticing, if they talked to other agencies.
