  • Goes online to do the security mandatory training
  • Screenshots certificates
  • Sends screenshots to security
  • Prints security forms
  • Asks for line manager to sign them
  • Scans the form
  • Emails  it to security office
  • Walks to the security office
  • Brings paper with him
  • Asks to initiate the process
  • Dribbled with email to find previous certificates screenshots and initial line manager request
  • Emails found
  • Is asked for personal information to start the profile
  • Takes photo
  • Some option fields are weird and not up to date
  • Everyone laughs and blames the system
  • Card is printed with photo
  • Is given the card and the paper form to deliver at the desk next door (literally!)
  • Goes to the desk with paper. Says that was sent to deliver that
  • Card and paper form is taken to some backoffice magic
  • Is given a suspicious look
  • Smiles back, twice
  • 10 minutes later is given the card back
  • Tests it on the door
  • Door opens

Now, it could be just me, but maybe this could be done differently …. seems too complex, with potential flaws and too much paper based for just an access card into the building.
